The Camellia is by no means the first shrub that comes to mind when thinking about trees and shrubs that grow well in the subtropical regions of the world but none the less these breathtaking flowering plants do have a place in gardens in this climate zone and given the right soil preparation, location and care can be grown successfully, rewarding their owners with some of the most stunning flowers that the floral world has to offer. Had the pleasure of dropping and catching up with the man behind Aloe aloe nursery – Michael Dent and this aloe was flowering right at the front gate – what a stunner ‘Capricorn’ is growing to around 1.5m.
