A landscaped garden

Brisbane International Garden Show

Brisbane, my hometown, finally has its very own prestigious garden show.

The Brisbane International Garden Show and it’s a wrap.

What a hit the inaugural gardening show was earlier this month, with over 30 000 visitors Pine Rivers Park at Strathpine threw open the gates over fours days for the gardening public to come and enjoy.

The driving force behind this event are the very same team plus a few extras that have been pulling together the Qld Garden Expo held in Nambour for the past 30 odd years.

Yes. They know what they are doing.

Over the fours days there was music, food, plants by the 1000’s, gardening products, landscape display gardens, workshops and talks from some of Australia’s and Queensland’s very best.

Best in show in the landscape design gardens were A&R Evergreen Brisbane. And I am very proud of my friend and colleague Clare James and the team she works with for taking out the top prize.

And when it came to talking gardening the line up was fantastic, with Graham Ross from Better Homes & Gardens speaking over the weekend, Jerry Coleby Williams from Gardening Australia, Jim Fogerty, landscape designer extraordinaire, Phil Dudman, Noel Burdette, Myself ;).

We also had the Urban Plot stage where wonderful people like Morag Gamble from Seed, Sandra Nanka from Mudbrick Cottage, Jack Stone from Bee One Third plus many more spoke all about herbs, bees, gardening with children.

Of course I spoke about Chooks there as well.

Plus we had Cooking demos and the fun Floral Challenge; now that was a laugh.

Did make it this year? Then mark it down in the calendar for October 2016.
